Could someone who has the 422 with the Robin EH65 22HP engine let me know if their Govenor springs are located in the same holes as my EH63 18HP engine. Attached is a picture of my spring setup. Thanks in advance for the help.

I've printed the photo and will check when I get home (in about an hour)

Phil

('course somebody will have already looked at theirs and posted by then, but if I DIDN'T print it and take it home, then nobody else would either. Only way to beat Murphy)

Mine used to be in that hole. I moved it one inward to get a little more horsepower under load increases. (Boy that will create discussion)

Bob;
Very clever! I think you know where I'm going with this. If someone were to compare the engine specifications on the EH63-64-65 they could figure out what I'm planning on doing. Were both your springs in the same holes as mine?

you plan on selling a used 18HP engine on craigslist someday soon?

As long as your at it, there are some small diesels that are about the same size...

Yes. both were in the same hole. Are you trying to get more power out of your 422? Be care, I believe the 425 engine has an oil cooler just for the engine. I just needed a little more power to get up my short hill.

wait a second... the 18 and 22 HP are the same engine... same displacement, same bore, same stroke, same weight, same dimensions...

hmm, there has gotta be a trick here...

Tim;
I have a few ideas but I can't say anything right now. I will say that they would benefit 180 owners with the 18 HP engine more then the 422-22HP engine owners.

Bob; I have the 18HP in my 180.

I may be wrong. I know I moved the spring one hole over. I am now not sure of the direction. I noticed in the service manual that the spring is shown in the middle of the 5 hole pattern. Sorry for the confusion. These engines are all identical, but there must be something different.

I now think it was originally in the middle hole and I move it out one hole.

I have been studying the service manual and can find no difference in the engines except the HP and Torque Specs. I am guessing that you think if you move the spring you can change the horsepower. It makes some sense. I wonder what the spring position on the 425 engine is. Does anyone know?
