422 Rake

I got the small rock bucket with teeth and the large light material bucket when I purchased( along with several other things). I was disappointed with the teeth on the small bucket, because they didn't seem to want to push into larger rocks, like railroad ballast. Then someone on TBN (sorry, fellas, can't remember who) told me to take a grinder to the teeth and sharpen the tips, as they are blunt from the factory. Man! That made all the difference. They'll slip right between the rocks and debris now.

Looking back on it, with years of hindsight, I should have skipped the small bucket with teeth and gotten the grapple bucket with teeth. It's the same bucket and a lot more useful.

We pretty much only use the grapple bucket. I love it.

Yeah. Like the pt itself a 4in1 is ok at everything and great at nothing. I would buy a bucket and a grapple and you might want to reach out to everything attachments as well as pt for these.

most of the time I have either the plow or the lmb attached.......but the grapple bucket is an absolute life saver when it comes to dealing with fallen trees......Jack

I have not used the grapple bucket in a couple of years. The swinging mini hoe is more useful, especially for larger logs. The grapple bucket comes in handy for moving branches and debris but I think i would be happier with just a large grapple (teeth instead of bucket).

+++1 on this.

The LMB and one of these would be a much better choice.

See this thread for Everything Attachments making a grapple for the PT.

Although I am torn, since like this might be better, since it can get a better clamp when removing brush and black berry bushes.

T Marks, I have an "open Throat" grapple like the one in your photo and it still works great for brush and blackberries. You did right by this version. The closed throat version is fine as well but IMO it does not haul as much as the bottom teeth are not there. Stuff falls out quicker.

Unfortunately not mine (yet)... came close to buying one last year, but then got distracted and spent the money on something else. :(

The good thing is that EA shipping prices are amazing. $80 to ship it to a terminal near Seattle (EA is in NC). PT would charge like $300+ for shipping for something this size.

Thanks for your input... kind of was still thinking about one vs the other grapple like this. On one hand, I have some brush piles to move. On the other hand, I have unending blackberry bushes to clear.

That's a ridiculously cheap shipping quote! I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Back in 2001 when we got our PT425, we had the tractor, 60" finish mower, 60" power angle snowplow, 48" brush cutter, large light material bucket, small rock bucket with teeth, pallet forks, and loading ramps shipped from PT to South Bend, IN for $500. Ordered Friday afternoon and it was here Monday afternoon. That was reasonable back then. Don't know what it would cost today.
