I have tried searching different sites but no luck. What is the rated lift capacity of the 3 point hitch on a JD 425?

Thank you, I looked there before and just now. All I can find is it is a class 0 hitch.

It will lift to full height, more than a 48" tiller packed with sticky moist soil will weigh. That will be well over 300 pounds. The problem is that the front tires will come off the ground long before that. Suitcase weights are mandatory.

Tractor Data has my 300 series tractors listed at 640lbs. 24” from pins. If that is correct the 400 series should be at least that.

What are we building?

Looking at a five foot box scraper. 385 lb. plus whatever dirt or snow is stuck with it.

That would be too big of a box blade for your tractor in my opinion. I have a 30" dirt scoop and can fill it half way up and I run out of steam. I have a regular 6' rear blade that weighs maybe 250# and works fair for light gravel smoothing around. A box blade with rippers down would stop you in your tracks. I thing even with the blade half full of dirt would do the same thing. I could possibly see a 4' box blade as workable.

I have an X740 with a class 1 hitch and had a class 1 on my previous 595. Class ones are more common that one would think. When doing these previously mentioned tasks I had tires filled and 200# of wheel weights with chains on the rear.

I use a 360lb. disc harrow with my 322. It picks it up no problem, 2 suitcase weights on the front bracket. Driving around you can tell it’s very heavy, swinging real slow banging off the check chains with every bump you drive over. In the garden, with 50lb. wheel weights on R1’s I will lose traction at times.
I feel that a 5’ box blade is to large for that tractor. You will be able to pick it up and drive around, but I think you will lose traction real fast dragging it around. Especially in snow.
