Just a note to update everyone on what has been going on with my 425.
Last September I replaced the engine with a new one of like type and model.
This January I sent to the factory the tram pump and steering pump. The tram
Pump was leaking oil around the seals so as it heated up I would have reduced power.
Slow leak on the steering pump.
Sent both items to PowerTrac and both returned today.

The tramp pump had lapping completed and new valve plate - $1215.80
Steering valve seal kit $82.98
Labor $120.00

Should have almost new machine now. Cause of above failures do to my abuse of equipment as I put the 425 far beyond what it was intended to do.

Good to hear it is back up and running. Seeing first hand the size of that excavation and the extent of some of your other work I am surprised how much work can be accomplished with such a small machine. :)

pj When you were talking about replacing the engine, I believe I told you that the motor was mounted to a plate that was mounted to the floor of the tub. When I took the class[demo] I was under the impression that the plate was bolted in but I was working in the engine tub and saw that it was actually welded in, sorry if it caused you any problems. When removing the motor was the bolt heads that you had to remove, removed from the top or was the bolt heads removed from beneath the tub, or did yours have a mounting plate that was bolted in? Glad you got it up and running.

Well, the 425 is in the garage ready for the next snow storm.
After all the repairs as mentioned earlier, I ended up having to
set the creep twice. Easy to do after you get the wheels jacked
off floor.

That is a common adjustment on hydrostatic equipment. We had to do it frequently on our Air Horses (converted wheel horse tractors used to move airplanes) and fork lifts. I also had to do it on our old IH2500b once. Haven't had to touch the PT425 yet (knock on wood).

Other than the job of blocking up the wheels, only took about 4 minutes.
I ended up shoveling my driveway 6 times while the 425 was down for repairs. Now that it is back it may never snow again.
