Oil & Fuel 425 with robin spark plugs, oil filter

hey guys I cant seem to be able to download the manuals at robins site from my computer and nowwhere online can i find information on an oil filter for the 25 horse motor only the 18 and 22. Is it the same filter? Also Im not sure if its because Ive flooded it trying to or atleast attempting to start it in cold weather but the plugs are as black as can be .id like to replace them , the manual calls for ngk bpr5es however it came installed with I believe ngk bpr4ey. What is everyone out their using?

My 422 came with NGK BPR6ES PLUGS, but Jack Robins (rep from robin recommended a new plug NGK BPR4EY be used instead. I don't know if that pertains to the 425 as well.

I actually went to an autoparts store and had them cross reference platinum plugs for it. I don't know the plug number, but I think the store was Advance. I will check this evening.
The carbon does not sound good. Could there be something else wrong? How does the air cleaner look?

If your plugs are black after running for about an hour, either you engine is out of tune, or you could have a dirty filter. If the filter is new, and you think the engine is in tune, then you need to go to a hotter plug. Also, is your choke off all the way. The choke cable could come loose, and you may think you have the choke off. Take the filter off and look at the choke as you activate the choke knob.

I could not find the part number and really don't want to pull the plug to find it. Sorry.

Thanks for the responces guys!! my PT425 is new ...just 6 hours on the meter.I had it shipped private carrier maybe a month and a half ago.Its been such a warm winter but on that particular day it was maybe 5 degrees. Did not want to start at all on the trailer.The driver would of liked me to just tram it off the trailer by means of operating the starter which yes it will do but, come on , thats no way to start my realationship with the PT. besides...theres no fun in off loading all the impliments by hand!! Needless to say it probably wasnt the healthiest first day for the engine (jumper cables....some waiting ..alot of crankin...repeat) So im wondering if thats what all the carbon buildup on the plugs was from. I did change the plugs today to what the manual recomends and it did start up fairly easily. Also changed out the oil. It actually looked pretty black. I have noticed the air filter (prefilter) is fairly dirty but im not sure if thats because its attracting dirt because of some kind of prefilter oil. There also seems to be some water droplets or something on the inside of the filter on the metal components. Could this be just condensation or maybe something to do with the oiled prefilter? Well , Im rambling now gotta run thanks again for all the replies
