I have been practising putting on and taking off the FEL and backhoe on my 4410. A secret about the backhoe is to use the stabilizing arms to lift the backhoe off of the L-Pins and place it back in its position befor the rockshaft leaked down tight against them. Jason showed me this and it is a big time saver. To remove the FEL is easy no secrets there, to install it I found speed range A the slowest makes all of my miscalculations small ones. To install the back hoe move the seat out of your way so the couplers are streight, this took some practise. Now I am confident that I can remove and install the FEL and backhoe in minutes. Now I have to work on the 3PHitch parts, they are so heavy and the balls seem stuck.

Lou,

I'm glad to hear this. I have a 4200, 420 FEL and 47 BH which have never been apart. While I can now conceive of a situation where I'd want to take off my FEL, I am thinking that taking off that backhoe is overdue this year.

I used a friend's larger tractor on my drive with my box blade last year as he wanted to borrow the blade for his drive, too. This year it'll be my 4200 pulling it and, hopefully, my yet-to-be-acquired brush hog, too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

LouG,

You are right on target with using the BH stabilizers to help
get the 48 on the tractor. It took me a year or so, only a
couple of interations of putting the BH on/off to figure this
"trick" out. I don't know why JD does not mention this in the
manual other than liability reasons. I used to constantly
fiddle trying to get the BH on my 4700. I have very little
level ground and the best I can do currently is to make the
tractor and BH level from side to side if that makes sense.
The last time I put on the BH I thought there had to be a
way to get the tractor to do the lifting for me and I hit on
the idea of using the stablizers.

The only downsize I can see is that one could flip the hoe over
with the stabilizers.

Later,
Dan

Don't worry, your balls will loosen with use. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif May have excess paint on them. My PTO shaft had alot of excess paint which caused mucho trouble getting implements mounted. After removal - slick as a button.
