4300 - 3pt quit working, found mesh screen in valve

My 2000 Deere 4300, rear 3pt lift quit working altogether, was brush cutting and it wouldn't lift anymore. No noise, no hint of failure, just stopped. My loader, hydro worked good, fluid was ok.

So I started taking the control valve cover off, then the valve, found a mesh screen had lodged itself in the valving.

Luckily I found a similiar post from a while back while searching the forums. Whew.

What do you think I should do? Would like to get it fixed right.
- have the dealer rebuilt it? if so how much?
- pull the screen out and hope theres nothing else in there?
- would this screen damage a seal, I see the price is like $450 for a new one.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Any opinions would be great.

Does your tractor have the high pressure filter? If not, the culprit might be the intake screen. I had mine get too near a gear and it got chewed up. Deere fixed it under warranty. Shop had seen one other at that point. Lucky for me as it entailed opening up the gearcase, hydraulics and cleaning and replacing stuff.

I'm refreshing this thread to see if the OP could give us an update on the conclusion of this problem. I too have a 4300 that's having 3pt issues (rockshaft very stiff and 3pt barely moves). I too have a big hole in the bottom of the screen but have yet to pull the valve to see if I can find the remnants.
