4300 Died and Won't Crank

I was driving across a field and my 4300 HST died and won't restart. It died as if the key was shut off. The reason I say that is that it didn't sputter and die it just quit so I know it isn't an engine or fuel problem. The dash lights turn on and it has good voltage and good connections. I can activate the preheater it just won't crank. When I turn the key to the start position the K6 relay clicks but nothing else happens.

Have you checked the shutdown switches starting with the seat?

Could be the Operator Presence Switch under the seat...definitely look there first

Another potential would be the thermister...just do a search on TBN. Thermister failures were the bane of the old ('98-2005) 4xxx series Deeres

It definitely sounds like a safety switch somewhere.
Not sure it would be the seat switch or thermistor though as I can start my 4310 without sitting in the seat and I think the thermistor will keep it from starting but wouldn't shut it down if already running.

Checked all the safety switches to no avail. Finally checked each fuse with a test light and even though it looked ok the 10 amp interlock fuse was blown. Replaced and it fired right up. What does that fuse go to and what would blow it?

Good work on the fuse find.

I had the headlight fuse melt out the fuse holder block on my JD4200. Never did find out why.

YEs same thing happened to me, driving down a pasture with no loads and it just quit as if I turned it off. Same it was the 10 amp interlock fuse was blown. Looked good but wasn't and only found this issue after viewing this page/thread. Thanks for posting

Do you have the part number for that fuse? tks
