Could someone please tell me the going price for the front bumper weights designed for the 4300? How much does each weight weigh and how much does it cost.

Thanks,
Bill Walls

JD Quick-Tatch weights are 42 lbs each. 5 fit on the stock frame bracket, 9 with a bracket extension kit. Should be less than $1.00 a lb. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I put 5 on the front of my 790 when I got the 5' rotary cutter. The weights are really great. They have the added advantage of acting like a bumper - the 790 has a sort of flimsy grill covering the radiator/battery box. Of course, that same aspect can be a problem if you forget that there are weights sticking out a foot in front of your grill :-{

I called my local John Deere dealer and they wanted $32.00 per each 42 pound weight. Are there any less expensive aftermarket weights that might work on a 4300?
Thanks,
Bill

Walls, I don't know if any other brands weights would easily adapt. You might consider creating something yourself. Take a look in the tractor photo forum. Bpence created some neat stuff./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif If you could find less expensive (used?) suitcase weights a steel box bolted on the bumper would hold them. A box like that could hold solid concrete weights also. Thats what my wifes' father uses on his Ford 1210 to counter balance a large sprayer on the 3-point. Works good. Painted to match it looks good too.
BTW, if you really want sticker shock get a price quote on the wheel weights /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I mounted two hardened steel all-thread rods on my front bumper (7" in length). Then I had corresponding holes drilled in three 2" thick solid steel stock (2" thick x 6" wide x 15" long, about 75 pounds each). I slip each steel plate over the bolt studs and then fasten the whole thing together with a flat washer and nut. Kinda takes a little time to set it up, but I found the steel stock sitting out back of a welding shop (scrap pile). With the cost of the bolts and paying them to drill the holes, I have about $50 into 225 pounds of front weights. Besides, I just leave then on, except during mowing season.

I am using 5 100lb Massey Ferguson suitcase weights on my 4400. They work fine. I am going to make a 3pt bracket so I can use them for added rear ballast with the loader. I got mine off the back of an abandoned MF 510 combine on my brothers farm. I have seen them at a local farm machinery salvage yard for $50.00 for 100lb & $25.00 for 70lb weights. I was able to find 4 wheel weights, also off of the back of a MF combine, that fit perfect on the rear wheels. The bolt holes lined up perfect & they have a total weight of 450lbs.
