Oil & Fuel 4300 fuel solenoid

I think that I've just cooked the fuel solenoid on Johnny while plowing snow. Judging by where the white smoke billowed out and the fact that I can't see anything melted, plus the tractor will not fire up anymore. Towed it back to the garage but have to spend next coupla days doing family stuff. Dealer closed till Jan 2.
Does anyone know if I can just get a replacement coil or do I need the whole assembly???

Or will I be able to pull the solenoid and use a welding rod to push in the valve? Just gotta run long enough to dump the FEL bucket and put it up on a sawhorse so I can get at the side of the tractor.

If you just remove the solenoid, the engine will start. To STOP the engine you must push in & hold the lever in the back of the HP pump with your finger. The solenoid is sold as a unit, costs about $70. I don't think it's serviceable.

I have since found that the tractor will run OK with the solenoid removed, but after a few minutes oil starts to pour out the hole. Made up a cover out of 1/4" aluminium with a fine thread machine screw which I can turn in to depress lever and stop the engine. Cleared snow for 3hrs (had to get caught up as more coming tonight)and brought down a supply of firewood yesterday.
New unit costs $150 here in Canada and will be at dealers in a few days.
The temp fix works OK but none of the safeties do...
