I was wondering if any of the other 4310 owners have had the white paint rub off on thier switches. The paint is gone from my motion match, cruise control, 4wd, and load match switches so the switches are now blank. I also noticed it rubs off easily on any of the other controls that are painted white.

Also, is anyone else's gas gauge off? I have noticed that I can run my tractor (at PTO rpm) for over an hour even though the gauge is pointing all the way to the right.

Please let me know if anyone else has noticed these minor issues as I would like to know if I am the only one-

I haven't had the paint rub off the switches of my 4610 but I do have the inaccurate fuel gauge problem. My dealer says he has a PIP on it for my tractor and we'll get it looked at at the 50 hour service visit.

Same with my gas guage. It doesnt work at all. The dealer says there are addressed issues regarding the gas guage and the tilt steering wheel that doesnt work. Both are due to be fixed at the 50 hour....

So has there been a recall/service bulletin on the 4X10 series for the fule guage? If so, is it all 4X10's, or only a subset?

Oh yea, just like adegiulio, my tilt steering quit working, too. There's a PIP out on that as well. Another thing on the 50 hour list.
As for which machines are affected, that's hard to say. My dealer showed me a list that he gets from John Deere that shows the relevant PIP's and Notices as they pertain to individual units he has sold, not to models in general. The list was sorted by Model then by Serial Number. He contacts the respective owners and arranges a service call. Just glancing down the list, though, I saw a heck of alot of fuel gauge troubles on 4000, 4X10, and 5000 tractors. I wonder if they all use the same sending unit? My particular 4610 was not on the list for either problem, however, he told me that it could take as long as 3 months for the department that handles service notices to become notified of my purchase. Saw a few for the 6000 series, too.

Try your serial number here at the PIP page. Maybe this will let you know, I haven't tried it as I have an 84 JD 750 (they probably don't go back that far).

Hi!

No disappearing ink, here!

No Tilt wheel problems.

My Fuel Guage has been off, a little...

I haven't plugged my serial number in the PIP app, yet, but I will!

100+ hours and no gauge problem or white rubbing off of switches... only problems thus far was fogging instrument panel glass and sticking joystick for loader... both problems corrected by the dealer on site.
I love my 4310! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a 4210 - my gas gauge reads dead empty when I still have 4 gallons left.

I also have the foggy instrument panel glass - do you know how they fixed it??

My JD 990 does the same thing. It was on the red mark so I went in town to fill up only to find I only put in about 5 or so gallons of fuel. The anti fog coating kit for the instrument panel is RE72944.
