I just finished moving the manure compost pile around. I returned to the house and hosed the tractor down a little. I backed the tractor into the garage to remove the weight box. I pushed the 3PH control lever all the way forward. The box was going down very slowly. I checked the flow control knob and it was very close to being at full (fast) flow. Turning it to full flow made no difference. I pulled the control lever back and the box raised slowly and the hydraulics squealed. Low pitch. Kind of a cross between a squeal and a moan.

The 3PH has worked fine up until this point. I have used it many times without a problem. Tractor has 10 hours on it.

Any ideas?

The dealer is picking it up on Tuesday to fix an out of calibration forward hydro pedal and replace the fogging instrument cluster (it fogged the first time I mowed). Last Tuesday it was picked up by the dealer to replace a bad hydraulic coupler that prevented the 3rd SCV from lifting the mower deck. I'm starting to wonder about Deere's quality. I've received great service (I left the tractor in my driveway before leaving for work and it was already fixed and back in my driveway when I called the dealer at 1:30 to check on status) but I did not buy Deere for great service.

I bet (ok how's 25cents...) that your 3 point has a clogged draftlink filter (which is behind the seat). Other possibilities are low fluid, or trapped air, but I am suspecting that filter, since you don't mention any loader issues...
If that is it, it is a break in issue, and is addressed by the 50 hour service...

I have had some dash fogging, but it is no big deal, only when heavy mowing, and only a slight annoyance. Maybe others are worse, but i don't see it as a big problem.

Thanks Mike. I don't want to wait until the 50 hour service to fix it. The loader was working fine and I removed it from the tractor after I had the 3PH problem. If it is the filter as you suggested, I would expect the dealer to take care of it when it is back in his shop tomorrow.

I also have a strange problem in that I cant get the arms to lift off my BH after a few weeks of non use. Immediately after getting the BH off (via the stabilizers) and manually lowering the arms, the arms operate just fine /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Anyone have any thoughts on this problem? Thanks

Bob S.

As a follow up to my original post. I used the tractor today and the 3PH works fine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hopefully the service technician at the dealer will have some ideas.

Bob, I have the same problem with my 4310. When I go to take the BH off to use the MX5 (once a year) it will not lift at first. I cycle the controller a few times and the arms start to move with almost no pressure behind them at first... the more I cycle it the more pressure it gets and suddenly it works fine. Tech at the dealership said it was a bleed down problem and nothing to worry about. The answer is to use the 3 point hitch more I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

JC4HD,

Do you know if just working the control form time to time (while the BH remains attached) will keep it primed for real use when the time comes? Thanks!

The 3 point will not operate with the backhoe on if you are using the power beyond kit to operate the backhoe. My 4710 does the same thing. When I try to lift the backhoe off after reconnecting the lines to the 3pt, I pull the lever all the way back & it takes about 50 seconds for it to lift it. This does not happen if I mount & remove the backhoe the same day.
The 4400 I had did not have this problem & I do not remember hearing anyone else having this problem with the 4000's.

Bob,

I don't think so since the hose you disconnect to hook up your backhoe feeds the 3 pt. lift cylinder. Keep in mind that I only use my 3 pt hitch once a year... if yours bleeds down within a couple of weeks maybe there is something wrong. My advise is talk to your Dealer.
