I have had a lot of difficulty from day 1 with the installation of my 430 loader. The plate does not rotate up to lock the loader in place very well at all. I lift the front tires as per instructions. When I pull on the lever to lock the plate it makes a solid metal on metal sound. I have eliminated one problem which is the head of the bolt which connects the rod to the plate. I must manually push the plate in or the head of the nut will strike the frame and not allow the plate to rotate. Something else is wrong and I can't figure it out. I have done the install several times in the last year but it is anything but easy and yesterday was the living limit. Thought I would venture out to pick up some rocks and I nearly blew a darn gasket trying to get the loader on. Any thoughts besides, call the dealer? Thanks in advance. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Yes, studied it, not really very helpful for problems like this.

I'm thinking you need to loosen the adjusting brackets on each side of the frame that goes between the rear attachment point and the cross piece that abuts the weight bar in front. I think there are four bolts on each side. Then (as long as there isn't anything bent) the front piece should latch onto the weight bar. If so, then tighten the adjustable frame on both sides.
If this doesn't work, then loosen the bolts that attach the 4x4 stubs on each side, that the loader hooks onto. These may have been mistakenly tightened before the loader was initially put on the tractor (error by the book if so). With those stubs loose (so that they move), attach the loader and make the above (first paragraph) adjustments. ighten everything when the loader is finally on.

Now that you have the loader on, maybe just go around and loosen these bolts, and see if it will repostion itself. If so, maybe that is all that is needed, and then you can re-tighten the bolts before taking it off.

With the ease that this loader system works of Deere, there is no reason to break a sweat and spend more than two minutes putting it on or taking it off.

Your dealer may not have had the swiftest help doing this job. I helped my dealer out a few times installing loaders, and there are a lot of short-cuts that can be taken, that result in the type of problems you are facing (I like to think I did it right however /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ). Another short-cut was the mechanics who didn't put the protective sock on the hyd. hoses the way the book says. There is a neat way and a sloppy way. Someday I will re-do mine and make it right, as the mechanics didn't go by the book. (who wants to read the instructions anyway!).

Thanks, very much. You are on track with what I was thinking. Something is not lining up correctly. I will put your suggestions to the test. When???

Yep do what pervious post said as my Service manager for the JD store I worked for told me to do the same thing & printed off JD instructions from DTAC.

Loosen 4 bolts on each of the 2 loader mounting frames.

then,

Loosen the 4 bolts on the front of the loader it self by that latch plate in the front of it. Where the latch plate rotates you will see 4 large carrage bolts.

then,

Install loader normally and when in fits good tighten all bolts down good and tight.

I had this same problem with the loader on the 990 and was getting very mad but now all is well hope the same goes for you.

On the subject of loader mounting, I'd like to toss in what I learned the other day....drove up to my 420 loader with my 4210 and the mast arms had settled enough to rub on the front tire tops as I drove into the frame. Didn't think anything about it until I tried to connect the hydraulic hoses, 3 snapped on easily but I could not get the green coded hose connected, there was so much hydraulic pressure build up in the loader connector it would not hook up. Using a block of wood to lift one of the mast arms two inches released the pressure and enabled me to connect the hose.

Just temperature increasing while the loader sets will cause enough pressure in the hoses to sometimes make it tough to push those hoses on to the connectors.

Another solution (one I use) is to wrap that hose with a rag (to contain the oil spurt) and press the end of the hose on something solid (steel frame member). This will push the center pin back and release the pressure, along with some oil, in the hose. Works fairly easy, but can be a bit messy.
