Tractor
johd deere 4310 ehydro
I have a 4310 ehydro I was doing some work on and I was bleeding the hydraulic lines. After I lifted the bucket to the top the tractor started releasing all of the hydraulic fluid out of a hose on the engine it seems. Can稚 find drain hose in repair manual so I am having a hard time figuring out what痴 going on. Any ideas?

bleeding the hydraulic lines
Why were you doing this?

started releasing all of the hydraulic fluid out of a hose on the engine
Don't follow what hose was "releasing" fluid.

Can't find drain hose in repair manual...
What are you trying to drain?

Hope we can help you, and might help if we knew why you were doing "some work" to begin with. More info please.

I too, wonder why you would bleed hydraulic lines. They will "self bleed" if you lost and added fluid or did a fluid change.

Ok sorry first time in forum. Originally I had a leaky axel seal and replaced it. Filled with new fluid after and the steering and bucket controls were really shaky so I was bleeding the air out like in the book just by turning wheel back and forth and lifting and lowering bucket and rock shaft. When I had the bucket all the way raised and was bringing it back down it started leaking as I described. I will attach picture of the line the fluid was coming out of as soon as I get over to the tractor. Thanks for responding.

Broken line, I'd suspect.

So that痴 where I got confused because it痴 not leaking from an actual hydraulic line it痴 some sort of overflow drain line as best as I can tell it starts close to the air intake next to an oil plug of some sort and ends close to the right front tire

All right I think that’s the pics of the drain line that is in question and where it starts

The finger in the pic is pointing to the right side of engine.. not close to the hydraulic pumps on the other side (left) of the engine.

That adds to the confusion..

note: duplicate pics or are the extra's for pointing out something else??

Yeah sorry about the duplicates. I can稚 find that hose anywhere on the hydraulic schematics. It starts close to the hydraulic pumps but is still confusing me

Looking at jdparts, I suspect the line is oil tube key #4..key#2 is a breather.
Is there a chance the hyd. oil was over-filled?

note: see reply #11 for better suggestion.

The line looks like the vent line from the valve cover. I suspect the pump seal is bad and it's pumping hydraulic oil into your engine, and pushing it out the breather on top of the valve cover.

I agree with Zeb's conclusion for being a vent tube... hard to connect oil puking from that with the OP saying it happened when lowering the FEL down from full up.

OP..."After I lifted the bucket to the top, the tractor started releasing all of the hydraulic fluid out of a hose on the engine it seems."

Is there a separate pump for steering on this manual?

Yeah there are two pumps that are connected

So the question now is if it was pumping hydraulic fluid into the engine will I have bigger problems than the pump seal

so there are two hydraulic pumps, front and back, mounted on left side of engine. Is that the same as the charge pump? And then there is a hydrostatic pump as well? Which of these am I inspecting for a blown pump seal?

The two pumps are; one for power steering, and one for implements (loader, SVCs, three point hitch) In drawing from JD parts, seals are circled. They come in seal kit, P/N LVA10948. Imp = implement pump, PS = power steering pump.

Check your engine oil level, pump(s) are leaking into engine, oil level will go up and hydraulic oil level will go down.
