Ok, here's my second question on the 4310. My 755 stays outside all of the time as will the 4310 when/if I get one. In the winter that means parked next to the driveway ready for snow duty. I was wondering if anyone had experience with snow, ice, rain, etc building up on the fender mounted switches and if that has caused any problems. Most likely none of the switches will be operated in the winter. MFWD will always be on and I do not use PTO or cruise for snow removal. Normally I just would have trusted JD engineers to do the right thing but after the mid PTO operation problem my faith is a little shattered.

Thanks,

Jeff

The fender switches do well with weathering but do yourself a BIG favor and at least cover the tractor up with a tarp or something similar. You can even get a cheap shelter garage made of fence pipe, tarp, and bungee cords to park it under for about $100. My 4410 gets parked in the basement.

And avoid using the cup holder. I had a closed coffee cup spill coffee into the switches. The cup holder belongs on the other side.

Sorry to hear about loosing your coffee but please tell me there was no damage to the switches. Hopefully the coffee was black, no cream or sugar.

The fender switches have small pin holes in the bottom of the housing that the switches sit in. Any water entering will drain through these pin holes and prevent the switches from freezing up. However, do yourself a favor and at least cover the switches in case of sleet and freezing rain. In these cases, your whole fender will be frozen over including the switches and the drainage holes will offer no benefit.

No damage. This was also my first day in the seat. Since delivery it has been raining too much to mow. I was done mowing and pushed the mid pto switch to off first. I realized my mistake and lowered the throttle to idle and then turned off the rear PTO, no gear noises at all. I may mark the mid pto in red so I know it is the one that is on first off last.
