My fuel gauge for my 4310 reads about 3/4 full when the tank is completely full. Does anyone else have this minor annoyance? My paperwork shows that I have a 10 gallon tank so I have to estimate when I need to refuel. When it read 1/4 tank left, I figured I should be able to get at least 5 gallons in. It took almost 5 gallons but not quite.Any suggestions?

Check the connections where the wires connect to the sender unit in the tank. Make sure that they are both clean and tight. Put some dielectric grease on them while you have them off. Does your gauge ever fluctuate wildly when your tank is about 1/2 full and your fuel is sloshing around? There have been some problems with faulty sender units on the 4300 tractors. Mine was replaced at 900hrs. Pat

Mine does the same thing. I bent the float arm so that empty is dead on accurate but it still reads only 80% or so when full. I have investigated replacing the sender yet but may. I have not found a way to adjust the limits electrically.

The fuel gauge on my 4310 has been sporadic as best. I have never bothered to get it fixed.

I always make sure that I start the day off with a full tank and I know that it will last the entire day. When I am in doubt as to how much fuel I have, I look in the tank.

My fuel gauge reads the same as yours although maybe a little higher at full. I run it down to well in the red area and it just takes a 7 gallon can of fuel. The needle seems to be stable across the range. No jump'n around.

I have a 4300 and the fuel gauge does the same thing. I have gotten used to it over time.

Folks, the fuel guage design isn't a defect - its a FEATURE!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We know we're SUPPOSED to ALWAYS top off the tank after using the tractor, but do we..? Well if you have NO EARTHLY IDEA what the little needle is trying to tell you (there certainly is no correlation to the contents of the fuel tank...) you surely will fill up after using the machine. This cuts down on condesation in the fuel tank thus protecting your engine. And some smart engineer figured this out to take care of us!

Wonder if they hired him from the gubberment..?

I do not think my tank has ever been 1/2 full but the needle does move around at times when going over rough terrain. I figured this was normal. I will check my connections. Most likely if this checks out OK I will just live with this "feature".
