New to me John Deere 4310, 2004, 4x4, powereverser, shuttle shift, have had this tractor a week or so and finally got to some seriuos work with it, was leveling out some washed out places an the side of a hill and every so often it would just quit pulling, I don't think the clutch was slipping, it would just quit pulling, I would clutch and raise the box blade and it would go on, turn around and make the same pass and it would pull like a big dog, did not do this very often, anybody else experince anything like this, any info appreciated.

Does the PowerReverser have a LoadMatch switch? On my 4310 eHydro it is on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Try the other position.

When you write
it would just quit pulling
, were the rear tires still turning..or stopped altogether?

finally got a chance to look at tractor, been busier than a cat, there is a sticker on the fender in front of where the pto sw is located and it sez " os load match", on the fender it has the pto sw, the 4 wh dr sw and a switch between these, it is not labeled, looked in my owners manual and did not see this configuration, as to the previous reply, when the tractor hesitates there is nothing turning no wheels spinning, front wheel dr not pullin, I can raise the box blade and lessen the load and it will start to move, now when this happened I had a box blade full of dirt going up a pretty good incline.

Have you checked your hydraulic fluid level (sight gage to the left of the rear PTO stubshaft)?
After your last post, I think you're either low on fluid, or have a restriction in the system. Since the 4310 is new to you, it probably wouldn't hurt to replace the hydraulic fluid, filter and clean the suction screen.

My tractor does this on hills when I shift my weight and the seat occupancy switch shuts it down just for a second. Down hill is the biggest problem.

Still doing it, the hydralic fluid level looks ok, talked to JD mech this morning and he suggest changing the oil, filter and screen as previoulsy suggested, will give this a try.
