My 4310 took a log to the suction pipe and screen cap a while back. Replaced the pipe and went back to work. However I have had a nagging leak from where the pipe connects to the suction filter housing.

I have looked and can稚 seem to find a good guide as to how to install the tube back into the housing. Its a press fit with an oring but I feel like im missing a step or something because it seems quite loose and barely goes into the housing, and at a bit of an angle, feels like it should push it alot harder but I am scared to get to aggressive with it.

I am having some major performance issues with my hydraulic system, weak, jerky, slow, and my 3pt hitch is not set able, either all up or all down. Figure I am getting some air in the system so trying to solve this suction issue to see if it will help the situation.

Did you replace the O-ring? What I would do is loosen the two clamps on the rubber hose. Then unbolt the housing to the trans where the suction screen is located and then open that up that fitting that is leaking again and try it again. With it all unbolted from the trans it will be more apt to draw in square than trying to force it. This will also give you a chance to clean the suction screen in the trans if you haven't done that recently.

Did more work on the unit today. Replaced suction screen and the piece of hose that connects the screen housing and the suction pipe.

Still can’t get the suction pipe to seat properly. Its at an angle and not tight at all. It seems like a silly design! Any tips?

Update:

The paint....

The new suction tube had paint on the end that goes into the housing and those couple thousands of an inch didnt allow it to seat properly.

Buff it off and it drops right in!

Did this fix your jerkiness when lifting your loader and/or other issues you were having? I just changed my hydraulic fluid and filters. When I pulled the screen out, the pipe you are referring to fell to the ground. I put it back as best I could, but I wasn't comfortable with the fit into the filter housing. I couldn't understand how it was going to seal. I felt in there with my finger and felt some kind of a seal, like an o-ring or something. So I pushed it in and finished the job. Now my FEL is somewhat jerky when I lift it. Prior to the change, my tractor wouldn't move after about five minutes of using it and my 3 point hitch and FEL were horribly jerky. After the change, everything is great, except I get slight jerkiness on the FEL. I'm wondering if I have an air leak at the fitting into the filter housing. Did you replace the packing/o-ring or no? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
