RockyRidge , I think I stated in my original post that I was responsable for the 50 since I have 47 on it now ,my concern is it should be done again at 100 instead of the 200 mark as in the manual. I think it is more impotant to do it at 100 now that it has been apart than it was at 50 since it was manufactured in a clean environment . I would guess the cost at around $75.00 for fluid and filters and thats with my labor and no dealer labor cost.
I am just glad that I don`t have 60 hrs and had just completed a change . The truth is as carfull as the tech is useing a clean drain pan its most likely gonna sit in that pan under a bench or in a corner for a few days ,not the best scenario in my opinion.

Jerry G . I understand what you are saying but within factory spec does not mean it doesn`t have ware ,and how does a rebuilder know it was out of a well cared for unit ,it could be out of a high hour unit that never had the fluid changed.
I don`t think there are a lot of ware parts in a hydro ,probably more seals than anything but there is something that is alowing it to stick in forward.

5030 The fact that it is covered by there warrenty will not do me a lot of good I will probably only put 50 hrs a year on it so I am looking at 200 -250 hrs at the end of my 2 year period ,hardly enough of a test. my usage is also fairly easy ,I use my loader for lifting or moveing things around ,mowing ,brush hogging ,not a lot of hard use .I have a backhoe loader that I do my hard work with.

I do collision work for a liveing ,I work in a dealership so I see both service and the bodyshop end .If you wreck your car today and it is more than a year old or under a year old with out of warranty milage ,most insurance co. specify used or aftermarket parts . Not the same situation here but similar .A salvage part is very seldom nicer than what you take off , remember its most times off of a wrecked car ,you may get a right front cut from a car thats hit on the left .that means what is on the right is usually bent, twisted or dented .yes it gets twisted back ,dents ,dings fixed but its not the same as what you had .bumpers ,headlights, grills, have chips scrathes and nicks . Try and sell a car that was wrecked ,you will sell it but you won`t get as much .
If I was buying a tractor that had a puked hydro and I had to fix it ,I would be happy with a remanned part ,but I would only do this if I was gonna be in the tractor for less than I could buy a good used one for . If there were 2 used 4310s ,one was split and fixed ,the other never touched which would you choose?
I hope I get lucky and get a new part ,if I don`t I have to live with what they give me ,will I be happy with remanned? NO! will the tractor work and function like the piece of equipment that it is ,I am sure it will . Will they get my money in the future ,probably not.

I was getting gas the other day across from my dealer and noticed kubota vs. deere . there were 6 or 7 compact deeres and about 12 kubotas out front and 12 out back .maybe they like selling kubota more.

As far as I know (which isn't very far) every company uses re manufactured parts (when available) for warranty work. It will state this under their Warranty. About the fluid, it's pretty commonplace to be the owners responsibility.

One option for you is put the tractor up for sale. Put a price on it that you can live with. You should be able to sell it before the warranty runs out.

I was afraid of this. Owners of Deere's going to Kubota! Our compact sales are already very slow and with the few buyers we get at the dealership I hate to see this. My 790 came with a dented fender and I got it replaced with a brand new fender. Same with the 4300 it had a chip in the fender and got a new fender not reman. I was pleased and still stick with Deere because of this.

That reminds me today my dad, me and my brother went there only to see a Deere with a broken steering wheel. If it were built a little better it would not be broken. It looked like someone tampered with the ignition and tried to steal it. Some paint was coming off the mower deck though.

Nick:

This really isn't on the thread or about CUT's, but what is a Saber or Sabre?? The lady down the road has one and it says on the hood "made by John Deere" It looks like a MTD riding mower, not a John Deere. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The Sabres came out in the mid '90s to compete with Sears and such. The are very similar to the L100 JDs now for an economy model. If you look at the smaller Sabres in the lawn series they have the same hood and body as the new L100s. They both feature the cargo mount system for some attachments. The higher garden tractor Sabres/G100 use the same mower deck as the normal JD which are the 48'' and 54'' decks. I like the Sabre line more than the new L100s since they look a little tougher. They use the same motors.

Nick:

Thanks for the information. Now I at least know what the lineage is. The lady down the road likes hers. I see that it has grease zerks on it. MTD's don't

Yep, there built a little better than those at least. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe you should go drive her Sabre you might want to trade that orange tractor you have for a nice green one.
