4310 Tilt Steering Locked Up

Has anyone here had any problems with their tilt steering locking up? Mine won't budge. I'm hoping that I can fix this myself in lieu of taking it to my dealer. Also, my fuel cap seems to be stripped. Does your fuel cap snug down or pop up after you hit bottom? Mine seems to pop back up indicating that it's stripped. I've replaced the cap once. I now think it is the tank.

I haven't had any problems with my gas cap but my tilt steering has locked up before. My tractor was still under warranty so I took it to the dealer. They were aware of problems with the tilt steering and there are replacement parts for the problem.

HeyNow,
The tilt mechanism on my 4310 didn't work from day one. Same problem as the other fellow. Took it back to the dealer where they replaced something with a kit they get from JD. My guess is that is a common problem.

Same problem and same result as the other two. There is a service bulletin on this, your dealer should fix you up lickety split...

Try spraying a generous dose of silicon spray down around the tilt lever and working it until it slides freely. Mine needs that regularly. My hood hinge usually needs a good spritz of silicon too.

With mine there was no working the lever. The lever was froze. It would not move at all.
