4320 4520 4720 Wheel Spacing

OK, so I ordered a new 4720 with R1's for some light tilling and moving round bales and general utility work. The dealer just called and asked how I want the wheels spaced. The front I went with wide (55" or 54"), but I have no idea what is best for the back. Can anyone make any suggestions or reasoning as to one over the other. There are 8 choices (51, 55, 59, 63, 67, 71, 75). I figured the 59 or 63 keeps them mostly in line with the inside of the front, but I would like anyone's input as to one width over the other......

It would depend on a couple of things, you need to cover your tracks on some implements. Moving round bales I would prefer a wide stance for stability. How tight are the places you need to pass through?

Narrowest gates are 12', so width is not an issue as far as that goes

How about the rear implements? Things like boxblades and rotary cutters should be wider than the rear tires.

All rear implments are currently too small as I am upgrading from a 2520..will be adding rotary cutter next; probably MX6 or MX7

I have a 4320.

I have my rear tires all the way wide and my fronts narrow.

When I read up on the fronts, the suggestion was that setting the steering tires wide adds extra strain on the steering components. It only gains an inch, so I left mine narrow.

I like the wide rears for stability. My tractor does mostly loader work, snow and dirt.

I never have trouble in tight places or maneuverability with the wide rears. It certainly makes it easier to put on chains.

The only time I don't like the wide rears is when I am doing bed shaping, pulling a double middle buster. The plow frame isn't quite as wide as my tires.

I suppose heavy lifting with the 3pt there may be some drawback to the wide setting. But I never lift anything heavier than my box blade with the 3pt.

Unless you have something compelling that requires the narrower setting, I would suggest wide.

Down side to max width on the rears is mud-slinging. You should also consider getting the rear fender extensions.
