4320 HST Cab died and wont start

My new tractor(38 hours) has always started and ran perfect. When I started it up this morning it sounded a little ruff. Operated it for about 2 hours moving downed trees and it stated missing and then died about 3 seconds later. No luck on getting it restarted so I cleaned the air filter and took off the fuel filter. I replaced everything and followed the operating manuel regarding bleeding the fuel line. Hit the starter and if slowly started running again. Ran real smooth for about 15 minutes and then went dead all over again. Spent about 1 hour bleeding air out of the fuel line and almost got it to fire off once. Since then I've been bleeding air and haven't got it to fire off again. I've checked the fuel lines and gas cap but haven't found anything wrong. Seems like it's sucking air from somewhere cause the more I prime the more the air bleeds out.

A few quick things to check are: fuel cap vent-check for dirt
seat switch
fuel soleniod
fuel pump
fuses K1 and K2

I have had many problems with my 4320!!! LOL!!! 1 of mine was a dry rotted hose with only about 30 hours on it. It would leak before going into the pump fitting.Also watch out for water in the fuel. I had a bad batch of fuel with my 790 that sounded very much the same as what you are going thru.

Went to work on my Tractor again today. Tried to start it several times and I had no luck. Obtained a $19.00 fuel filter from my dealer and took the old one off. I could tell by the weight difference that the old one was probably clogged up. I placed the new filter on, bled the fuel lines a few times, and the tractor started up. Ran engine for about an hour with no more problems. Having a clogged up fuel filter with just 38 hours on the tractor is not good. I hope this doesn't happen every 38 hours or so. I put over 200 hours on my old 4300 using diesel from the same place and I never had to change the fitler on it. The filter on my 4320 resembles an oil filter and it's not like the 4300 filter which was enclosed in see-thru plastic.

Must have gotten some bad fuel to clog filter with only 38 hours.Or bad fuel from the dealer? Be glad that it did its job and only cost $19.00 to fix. Glad to see you get running again.

According to my dealer the 4X20 series tractor engines fuel system is very sensative to dirt in its fuel system because if the internal injection system. So they use a much finer filter which means it needs changing sooner than the Yanmars do.

I'll have a 4320---FOR SALE! If I have to buy a filter every 38 hours.

The problem may have just been some "junk" in the new tank or, as dirt suggests, the dealer had some bad fuel. Try a filtered funnel to see if you have a lot of trash in your fuel. If so, the pre-filtering should help until you can find a new source.

I hope you are correct. I drained the fuel from the old filter into a glass jar and it appeared as clear as spring water. This doesn't mean that there isn't some bad junk settled in my tank though. I will start paying more attention to the quality of my fuel before pouring it into my tank from now on.
