Hi lfalkenh

I have mentioned this a few times, but call up Javan at Mutton Power Equipment | Compact/Utility Tractors

They are easy to deal with and offer the best pricing by far. They are also set up to ship product cheap all over North America.

I am in Canada and purchased from them and still came way ahead of the game even after paying for shipping.

Give Javan a call, it can't hurt to try :)

Good luck and let me know if it works.

That really won't help him establish a price for his area though. I sell tractors all over the nation and into Canada as well but posting blanket cheap prices on this board won't help anyone, it will just lead to people thinking they will get those prices at their dealerships (which they won't). The only time I sell super cheap is on an "aged" new tractor we have at one of our stores and do it cheaper then Mutton advertises for...have sold to several members here on TBN...Mutton just blankets cheaper prices and they are a small dealership...anyway I am ranting...anybody from Texas have any suggestions for this man?

Well since my post never helped him/with pricing advice??? Gamble77 how did your post offer any help?

All you seemed to establish aside from being bitter/ranting? (Which I don't get) is don't buy from bigger dealerships because they can't offer the same good prices the smaller dealerships offer?? According to you Mutton is a smaller dealership, but they gave me 5x the service my local big boy John deere dealer was willing to give. I find with bigger dealerships someone has to pay the high overhead and that is usually the paying customer. Big or small , friendly/knowledgable staff is what counts most, and Mutton was all that and some. If they are what you consider small I would say **** YA TO THE SMALL GUY , they did me real good :)

2, you and your dealership are only willing to offer better pricing on older units that are not selling?

I don't fully understand what you mean by Mutton just blankets cheaper prices? I spent countless hours doing research for pricing and it was CLEAR Mutton had the best pricing. To many dealerships websites (yours included) just sent me over to the John Deere website for full MSRP. Mutton is going above and beyond and advertising a great price on many units. It is a price anyone can call and get. Then add in the fact I had a great shopping experience with Mutton, the user asked for some feedback from others, since nobody had answered I figured I would share my experience. Once again it was not done to upset others, more just sharing an honest experience I found when trying to find the best price going for a new John Deere machine, which is what the original user was asking.

If the dealer in Texas is asking a few thousand dollars more, the original user could always post the Mutton asking price and ask for the same price. If the dealer in Texas is too big to offer the better price, I would say "C-ya later my money is good"

Gambler77 I don't know what I said that got you so upset, and I never tried to suggest Mutton is the only dealer to offer shipping all over North America. Pretty much every dealer can offer that shipping all over since they all ship the units to the dealerships. I just found Mutton had the best prices going on all NEW current models.

If the user is serious about saving money, he should call around and shop for the best price.

Hey lfalkenh another thing to consider, if the dealer in Texas is unwilling to match another dealer's price, remember if you buy out of state you will pay no sales tax. That should easily cover the shipping and some. Bottom line is the dealer wants to get the most money they can from you the user, so why not try the same approach back on the dealer? If it's ok for the dealer to try and high ball you , why is it not ok for the customer to try and low ball them? The idea of certain areas charging more is a joke. Every customer regardless of location should have a chance for the same price. If the dealer is trying to charge you more for the sake of living in Texas, just get online and shop elsewhere.

Good luck with the search and sorry for upsetting you Gambler77

Reality is that every customer can't get the same prices that we offer or Mutton offers. We operate in the most aggresive territory within the country for pricing, the SouthEast has more dealers closer together then anywhere else in the nation. I am not mad at you for your comments, it was just not helpful to this board. I think the price this gentleman has been given is fair for his area.

Reality also is that us being a larger dealership affords us to operate in such a manner we can be very aggresive on pricing. I am sorry if my earlier post came accross as brash and ranting (to some extent it was). I do have a problem with the way Mutton advertises and blankets their prices over the internet and through magazines but I woulndn't expect you to understand all those reasons because you aren't on the right side of the fence here. I am gratefull you got a great deal and are pleased with them, thats great and I hope you get years of great servcie out of your machine as I am sure you will.

I'm in Tenn. and I recently bought a 4520 with eHydro, R4 tires, third rear SVC, and 400CX loader for $26,450. Hope that helps. If you're able to save $1-2K then it's worth the drive.

Thanks for the info...

It seems I talked to another dealer today...he suggested the 5205 (and its cheaper)...seems harder to use, but, with over 100 acres, he said i would want the power long term...

Not to cause conflict here, but, the 4320 seemed so much better than the orange guys...if i go with a basic, more powerful tractor, why not go orange and save a couple of grand...I have no clue what I am doing so I may be way off...I just dont want to buy something and regret it next year...

I would consider a JD 5205, but only get it if you're happy with how it works. I have a 5105, same thing with 5 less hp, and I'm pretty happy with it. I do miss the hydro-shuttle feature when doing loader work or mowing in tight areas. The 5205 is a good deal because it's being discontinued and dealers don't want them to linger on the lot. The 5105/5205 series is also STOUT even within a class that is generally stout. IMHO, it is a better deal than the bare-basics Kubota models; the 5205 has features about halfway between what you get on the basic MX5000, which is really a larger CUT with a fairly small engine (turning higher rpm), and the M6040, which is Kubota's nicest utility in that size range. Unfortunately price of a 5205 is pretty close to an M6040 and on the Kubota you can get the hydro-shuttle which would be really nice for loader work.

IMHO - get the 4320 if it's really what you want. If you think you need more power than that, shop objectively between Deere, Kubota, and whatever other brands are nearby in the utility range (New Holland in particular). Most all of the utility tractors are very well made and very similar, so if a utility is appropriate I don't think you will go wrong with one brand over another.

lfalkenh -- as best as you can -- ask yourself where are you going with your land? What projects and long-term objectives do you have in mind?

Aside from the creature comforts of the models that are out there -- Hp equals potential work capacity. More hp = bigger attachments and bigger attachments means you can work more ground in a given amount of time.

Granted, more comfortable tractors can make your seat time more efficient but the bottom line is; if you see yourself working more and more of those 100+ acres, get a big enough tractor!

Spend some research time at local farm auctions. Visit with some of your neighbors. You might find that a good, used Ag size machine might be a better fit your long-term objectives.

If you can find a one-owner Ag tractor that comes from a farm that shows the operator took care of his place and his equipment, well; you might be money and time ahead of working your way up the "food chain" of smaller, CUT's to Ag machines.

Best of luck with your decision --

AKfish
