Is the following quote a good deal: $20,500 for a new 4400 FWD, folding rops, hydrostaic, mid pto, r-4 industrial tires, dual selective control values, Rockshaft with telescoping draft links, 430 loader with 73" materials bucket? If it is too high by how much? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

That's not a bad price. I just ordered a 4300 with the same stuff, less the mid-pto. I paid $18,730. List price on a 4400 is about $1500 more than the 4300, and a mid-pto is about $250. You may be able to shave a few hundred off, but that would be about it.

List price is about $24,850 for what you're talking about. You're about 17.5% off list.

I just purchased what is almost a twin to your quote. I felt that it was a pretty fair price. My tractor does not have the dual control valves and did not have the telescoping links at first. I have since added the links at a cost of $160.00. Breakdown on mine was:
4400 tractor, MFWD, folding rops, hydrostatic, mid pto, R-4 tires, 430 loader, 73" bucket:
Cost: $19,700.00
Tele. Links: $160.00
Add for DSCV: $700.00
Comparable price: $20,560.00
That's within $60.00 of your quote. What I felt made my purchase an even better deal at the time was that I also got a LandPride RCR1560 Rotary Cutter, a LandPride BB2566 Box Blade and a LandPride RTA2562 Rotary Tiller with slip clutch for an additional $3800.00 for all three pieces. So, if you end up buying, you may want to negotiate the price of some of the implements you want in with the price of the tractor. Might save you some cash.

Have fun,

and the following

430 Loader

rf33,
I'm pretty stupid when it comes to "control valves" and what's needed for what, but if the DSCV referenced in verngil's post is the one necessary to operate the loader, then you can knock off the extra $700.00 from my price comparison as the $19,700.00 figure included the 430 loader and whatever was needed to make it functional. That would bring my final comparison cost down to $19,860.00.

SCV's or Selective Control Valves are the valves which control certain hydraulic implements. SCV's are needed for loaders, some hydraulic assist post hole diggers, top-n-tilt (a whole nother story), log splitters, etc. Generally, for a loader, you will want mid mount couplers, which simply means that the couplings for connecting the hydraulic hoses are located in the middle of the tractor. This eliminates having to route the hoses over the back tire, and connecting the hoses to the rear of the tractor. Most other implements will be of the three point hitch variety, so it is nice to have a couple of SCV's back there as well. I currently have 2 mid mount couplers, and two rear mount ones also. My loader takes up the two mid mount (actually I could use three here, just in case I want to get the grapple bucket or a 4-n-1 bucket), and the two in the rear are available for whatever other hydraulic implements I need. I hope that this helps, I know that it is confusing, but the general rule is more is better, but will cost more.
