Hello all,

I'm an infrequent poster, but frequent reader. I do appreciate all the info. provided here and am looking for some input.

I've got a number of barnstone (30+ ton) to move/place and was planning on installing a grapple on my loader (4410 w/ 420 loader w/ 61" bucket). I'm thinking Tatro or Green's Machine Shop and a ?? toothbar (haven't decided there).

Given that these machines already have a 3rd valve, but no actuating mechanism, I'm looking for some input on as to whether the 3rd scv kit (LVB25084, $248 list) makes sense -or- should I just buy the lever/knob/etc. and tee off lines toward front and rear w/ QD's. $250 seems expensive for just basically a lever, hardlines, bracket and fittings. Handle/lever assy w/ pins is about $60.

OR

Do I go diverter ?
Pros/cons?
Thanks guys

Since the valve is already there, I would go the parts route, Lever, linkage, couplers. If as you say you can do what you want for considerablely less then the bundle.

Hoses would be chaeaper than hard lines, up to you.

If you put a "Tee" in and put couplers two places, you can only have something hooked up at one set of couplers at a time.

I would rather use the third valve that's there than add a diverter.

I don't think $248 is bad at all for a factory-finished looking remote when it's installed. Add in the diverter will cost almost twice that price.

No argument that the kit looks nice, but it sends remotes to the rear. I'd like to send lines to the front, too. My thought was that if I tee off out of the bottom of the 3rd scv the kit lines wont work out. Either I'll have to move the outlet bracket down in the rear to compensate for the tee, remake lines, or just not run lines to the front and make long hoses for the grapple connections a the rear.

Item #19 looks like an O-ring boss to O-ring face adapter. I think you can use a "tee" in place of it. And still run the hard lines to the rear and hoses to a mid set of couplers.

I'm trying to recall if there is room for a "tee" in place of #19, and if such a "tee" is available on the market. Am interested in that approach, any thoughts on such a "tee"?

I don't know about the room issue. Not knowing the sizes of the part number 19, not sure of the availabilty of a TEE. Discount Hydraulic Hose has them.
ORB (O-ring boss) to ORFS (O-ring face seal), all males, with the ORFS at 90* to each other. ORFS to ORB on the run & ORFS on the branch.

If someone can verify sizes of part 19, availability of a TEE could be confirmed

It looks like the 4x10 3rd SCV kit is a definite improvement over what
JD had for the 4x00 tractors. I like how you now have a direct-acting
lever (#3), instead of the old cable remote to a friction lever on the
fender. I would just buy #3 and its associated pivots from JD, and use
metric adapters from DiscHydHose, then run hoses to the front or
rear, as you prefer.

You don't have a lot of room in there, but NOT using a cable remote (photo)
gives you more room for the adapters. I used 90-deg adapters and
hoses to the rear. You can turn the 90s forward, or use straight adapters
(easier!). I went with my own bulkhead, welded to the ROPS at the
rear, but you don't really need that, and you don't even need QDs, if
the grapple is always mounted.

I guess I bought two kits then. One kit was the 3rd SCV Kit and the other kit connects to the 3rd SCV and runs to the center QDC new bracket with six holes and then changes to steel lines and with QDC on the end of the steel lines up front for attachments. Might have been a little expensive for the two kits but it is neat, very handy and functional!
