While comparing the 4410 vs the 4310 w/fwd my dealer is talking an $1,100 difference. Seems like a lot of money for 3HP difference.

Would be interested in reading some opinions on this.

Another difference that may matter some is engine torque. 4310 is rated at 73.1ft.lb. while 4410 is rated at 81.0ft.lb. Of all 4x10 series models the 4410 engine has the second highest rated engine torque. Highest is the motor that powers the 4710 (this is rated 86.3ft.lb.).

You should also check the standard equipment on the two tractors when comparing the prices. I have not looked recently but when I was looking this seemed to be reason for the price differences between models. When you look at the 4310 equiped the same as the 4410 you may see that it would cost more.

I've spent a lot of time on-line and with the brochures. And have asked the dealer directly a couple of times as to other, not-so-obvious differences. I'm convinced that, other the HP and torque, there are no differences.

That said, the difference I've found is dispacement. Though the brochures and the dealer info will say both have the same displacement, the web site says that the 4410 is 101 cu in vs 92 cu in for the 4310.

As you're probably aware, dealers have packages of commonly desire options. My quote was for Pkg 40.

If memory serves, the 4410 comes standard with four wheel drive while the 4310 has that listed as an option. That should account for some of the price differential.

While you're correct that the 4410 only comes in a 4WD flavor, the price difference is with a 4WD 4310.

I'm not convinced these are the correct ratings. I believe the actual manual has different numbers. I've found several typos or incorrect specifications in the sales borchure.

The dealer that I bought my 4410 also claimed the the transmission was a little beefier than the 4310 in addition to the 3 HP.

Have you looked at the configurator on the JD web site? It only gives list prices but you can configure the two tractors the same and see where the difference is. I looked at it briefly. The base transmission in the 4410 costs $1200 more than the base transmission in the 4310. With the same transmission in the 4310 the list price difference is $1800 so JD must think the 3HP and 8.7ci is apparently worth a lot but there may be some more differences that I did not see. The dealer has apparently narrowed the difference if he gave you an $1100 quote. The list price for a base 4410 is $19,299 per JD's web site.
