I have a 45 inch snow thrower on a 1641 that used to do an outstanding job throwing snow until this winter.
Upon recomendation from the dealer I have replaced the belt and the tension spring with minimal difference. I now am preparing to replace the left and right hand augers as well as the impeller. They do not seem to be bent terribly but I figure they may be worn down.

Basically what is happening is that it used to throw snow 15-20 feet away and now it hardly pushes it 5 feet. Last year I encountered some nasty metal in a couple of storms (one pipe and one strand of 3/16 metal "wire") I remember after dislodging the items that it threw some nasty sparks for a little while.

Any comments or suggestions on my replacing all augers is appreciated. I will also try to comment on the ease of replacement for everybody

Upon recommendation from a friend I decided to tear into it before I ordered any parts. Augers were going to be about $100 a piece and the impeller about $80.
The whole auger assembly was a snap to take out
3 bolts on each side holding the shaft that the augers rotate on and 1 sheet metal screw on top of blower housing
a good tug and everything came out together as an assembly
I should have taken pics for you guys

Well.... My problem turns out to be the impeller. There are 4 blades on it that looked ok when everything was together but after it came out , they were obviously bent terribly. They were all bent the same though so it looked fine at first glance to me. This is attached to the shaft with a pin that I would like to think would sheer under extreme circumstances but does not seem to.
It looks like I could fix it with some heat and a big hammer but I am going to order a new one instead. I love how this snowblower worked and want to have that back without worrying about my handy work
