Just put a down payment on a Mahindra 4500 4wd with a quick detach loader and grapple. The tractor and FEL was $18,000 and another $2000 for the grapple/root rake. Thanks for all the info you guys have posted because I was rather leary and would not have even given them a chance. They are really solid machines but I got to admit I was rather disappointed. You see, I fell in love with the 6500 and if I had enough money I would have gotten that behemoth. I was getting some pretty hefty quotes from the big three and the closest I came with similar features was John Deere and it was $5500 more. I plan on keeping this machine so who gives a #%^& about resale if it is dependable. Besides, I have owned two quote "off brands" and have never lost more than $2500 in either one and sold them both after 4 years and 400 hours (a TAFE DI45 & a Long Landtrac 280 DTC). Neither one ever broke down either so I don't believe the big three are the only reliable machines. I can't see the Mahindras price gap being that big from the big three forever. If sales keep growing as I believe they will, the gap will close more and our machines will be worth more. Once people start to realize that the so called american machines are being pimped out overseas and that other brands are either the same or of the same quality, the big three will have to quit gouging people. It really disgusts me that American workers are out of work because the American companies just want to put more money in their pocket by having machines built overseas but yet not pass that savings back to us. I have a Chevy Silverado and a Chrysler New Yorker that I'm not sure if they are even American made. I guess you guys can see I'm a little upset after an intensive pricing game with the big three. It's just that most the new machines have plastic crap and are too light to get the horsepower to the ground unless you pay out the tail for a Challenger series CAT machine which is close to the same weight of the Mahindra 6500. There was only an $8,000 difference in price between the two. I look forward to getting my tractor and if it does what it did at the dealership, I'll be laughing my way to the bank with $5,500 from not getting the Deere. I would also like to add that when I bought my Landtrac I only had 10 acres and now I need something bigger since I purchased more land. When I bought the Landtrac there was only one machine heavier and it was a Mahindra. I have never been stuck in the Landtrac and it is all due to getting the power to the ground. That weight is needed when pushing up small Bay trees in a marsh. I'm glad to see that others have a basic understanding of physics and don't equate weight with being cheap. My friend is buying my tractor in two weeks and I'll pick up my tractor then. I really can't wait to get it because I was just amazed at how smooth and powerful it was. I'll fill you in on all the damage inflict once I get it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
