I am posting this for my uncle. He has a 4500 that is a little over 3 years old. His fuel pump went out the other day. It all started with having a bad seal leak on the pump. It was sucking air and wouldn't pressure up the fuel line. He put it in the shop and they supposedly fixed the problem. A couple days later it went out completely. The dealer where he bought the tractor is the same one that done the repair, but have since gone out of business. Now he is stuck either having to get this rebuilt or buy a new one. $$$$$$!!!!!! He wanted me to post on here to ask if there is any alternative means of getting a pump repaired. He already pulled it off the tractor and took it to another dealer, but told them to hang on to it until he decided what he wanted to do.
I don't have any clue why the pump went out, but he seems to think the leaking seal may have started something and the dealership knew they were shutting down so they may have done a half-***** job in the repair. However, he can't prove this and doesn't want to speculate, but it seems strange for a pump to go out so soon. Even the dealer he took the pump to said this was the first one they have had come back.
He is going to pull his invoice to find out exactly when it was purchased, hoping he might luck up and it still be under the three year warranty, but he thinks it has been longer. Is there any help he may be able to get from Mahindra to alleviate his costs some or get the pump fixed a little cheaper?
Any info is much appreciated.
