I have a 450E dozer that I changed the fuel filter on and now it won't start and the new filter is full of fuel. It appears I have to bleed it somehow but I'm not sure how to do it. Is there any help out there?

Usually there is a bleed screw/bolt on the injector pump. Not familiar with the 450E, but my guess is it would have one.

Otherwise, you have to crack the fuel lines loose at the injectors to get the air out.

No bleed on the pump.. just loosen the lines AT the injectors.. no need to take them off, just loosened a few turns.. as many as you can get to..

I just loosen one line, (at the injector) all the air will go to that line and get out. AND have the throttle wide open...

When the engine starts, it will run rough, close the line and it will soon smooth out...

I completely remove the line off of my injectors and and manually pump the fuel until I get clear diesel coming out of them without any air bubble. They I attach them loosely and pump them again to make sure there are no air bubbles. Sometimes it wills start with the lines on loose, but usually I'll tighten them up and that's when it fires up. There is a lever on the fuel pump on all my tractors. I ran a 450G for a few months, but never an E model. I would be surprised if there wasn't a manual lever on the fuel pump for your tractor.

Did you fill up the fuel filter with new fuel before installing it? If not, it's going to take forever for it to fill up.

Be sure that the entire fuel line is clean. From the pickup in the tank, through every filter and pump on the way. My Case dozer has a two fuel filters, a screen in the fuel pump and another through away inline filter that I added to it. Sometimes the rust from inside the tank will get inside the line and plug it up. Use an air compressor to blow out the lines. All of them, before and after every part along the way to the injectors.

Is there a glass bowl on the bottom of your fuel pump? Is it clear? There is a small screen in all of my tractors inside that clear bowl that needs cleaning out too.

Are you implying that with inj lines loose that you can move lever on transfer pump & force air out of inj lines? If so I have to see that to believe it. That would require much more pumping than I'd care to endure. On contrary to bleed diesel engine I use short bursts of compressed air blown into fuel tank neck opening blocked off by shop towel to force fuel to IP.

I'm not sure what a transfer pump is. On the fuel pump, on all four of my tractors, there is a lever that you move up and down by hand. This will pump the fuel manually. With the lines removed from the injectors, it's just a simple matter of time until you get clear, bubble free, diesel fuel to come out the end of the lines.

I've never heard of, or thought of your way of doing it. I fail to see how compressed air is going to force fuel in the tank past the fuel pump, the filters and the injector pump. If it works for you, that's great. I doubt that it would work for me.

I just glanced at the video quickly, but saw what I was describing

I do the same thing IF it's been run out of fuel...well kinda..

I get help, and have them keep the air pressure in the fuel tank, while I open lines to get all the air out, to the pump, then I open one line at the injector and crank the engine, (as I said in the earlier post) they start pretty fast doing that...

I watched the video and that's a different method to bleed air to injectors than I was thought back 50 yrs ago. Granted I've never bleed the fuel system on a Volvo engine. Lift pump aka transfer pump aka hand pump aka primer pump. The youtube video that followed the video you posted a link to is exactly how I was taught to bleed air out of inj lines by turning over engine therefore using inj pump to force air out of inj lines.
