Quick background:
I bought my 2008 Mahindra 4530 about 6 months ago with 280 hours, it's been parked in the garage since. I have had hardly any time to use it, put maybe 6 hours on it so far. Dealer said they were going to do a fluid change and go over the tractor completely before delivering it.
Situation:
I added 3rd function hydraulics to the front to run a new grapple, and upon plumbing new lines, realized how bad the current hydraulic fluid was. I drained it, it looked like chocolate milk.
Problem:
3 small ball bearings, 3 small springs, and a steel round rod, about the size of a AA battery came out of the front hydraulic pan. I removed the pan after the bearings and springs came through the drain and found the steel rod in the pan.
Question:
Does anybody have thoughts of where these parts could have come from? Since everything on the tractor seems to operate perfectly, my thought is that they must have come from a previous problem. Perhaps the hydraulic pump came apart and they replaced the pump but never found/removed all the parts? I don't know what the interals are of the pump or perhaps a control valve that could be suspect. I plan on contacting the dealer, hopoing they have records of work they performed on the tractor in the past. It was evident they had the pan off before, of course they never mentioned and of this while I was checking it out at the dealer.
