New here, but I've dropped in from time to time. ;)

I have been using my Nortrac 304 for a while now with good success.

Based on that, I just ordered a Jinma 454 w/loader from Keno Tractors in Keno, OR. Has anyone done business with them? Does anyone have experience with the 454? I tried out a used one they had in stock, and it was about twice the tractor as my 30 hp Nortrac, IMO.

Any issues or problems I need to consider? They also carry Mahindra, but there is a significant price difference between the 45 hp models.

From what I hear Keno is a first class operation. Does your 454 have a 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder engine? From what I hear the 3 cylinder is a lot smother running and easier to start.

I think you might be one of the very first few getting a 454. I look forward to seeing and hearing all about it.

If you don't mind, I would like to ask you a few questions about your Jinma 304, except your settings will not allow you to receive a PM. Please PM me if willing to answer a few simple questions about the gearing on your Nortrac brand Jinma 304.

Thanks,

Larry G

I will have the 3 cyl engine. The 4 cyl is a smaller displacement, I believe, and has less torque. I can't imagine why they offer it.

Also, I should be able to get PMs now...:) I tried out a used 454 at Keno on Tuesday...with the 3cyl. It was easy starting and smooth. It was much more tractor than my 304 in my opinion. My 304 poops out in our sandy soil. I have a 102 hp Case 970 turbo David Brown to pull the heavier implements, but I would rather use a tractor the size of the 454. I get nosebleeds up high on the Case.

How are the Jinma loaders? Are they tough enough, or is the Chinese metalergy problematic?

Stay away from the Jinma loaders. I have one and when I bought my tractor I could have upgraded to a Koyker for $500. What a dumb azz i was. I have had to replace the valve and spent that much plus some and still lack the power, fit and finish, ect, ect.

luv2,
What kind of loader came on your Nortrac? Was it a stock Chinese model?
I just went through the same thing as Chris, replacing the stock valve with Ranch Hand's kit for Loretta's 284 Jinma. Fortunately, she will be doing light duty work with here loader and bucket, so we can live with that part. My 554 Kama though, has a Koyker 195 fel on it and is very strong and smooth.

The Nortrac seems to have a decent loader. I'll try to get the name off of it tomorrow; its hard to see.

I decided to cancel the Jinma 454 order and stick with the Nortrac and my Case 970. I had planned on selling the two I have and go with the one 454.

I like the idea of having a second 3-point with another implement ready to go on the second machine. The wife can follow my discing with the other tractor and the spring tooth harrow, etc.
