4540 Owners Manual

Maybe this is best answered by our Montana dealers here.

Is there any way to get a owners manual online or sent via PDF file? I looked at the
MontanaTractors.com and couldn't find a way.

I just called Montana and they said they did not have any online manuals. Whoever answered the phone said she didn't know, so I asked if she could find out and she asked the service manager...who said no.

I still have a while before my tractor gets here and would like to read over it.

Sometimes the quietness of the Montana forum is a little skeery to an "almost owner" Like there's only a handful of people that own them or somethin. Hopefully someone has an answer to my question...even if it is "No, they don't have anything other than the paper one".

I have never seen a electronic version of the manuals. I would imagine that one of the dealers that post here will chime in and let you know how to purchase a hard copy. The version I have for my 3040 was obviously translated from korean but it tells me what I want to know which is when to change what fluids and filters.

There are quite a few montana owners that post here but I do not see many that have bought used and most probbably do not know the answer to your question because they got the tractor new.

Maka or Montanaman I am sure will chime in soon.

Hey, Good to have some company over here Thanks for the reply. I'm actually buying a new Montana that will come with the manual, but wanted to look in an Owner's manual (or is it operator's manual) to read as much as I can before it gets here. So I will have a few hints about some of the operations of the brakes and hydralics etc. I should have the tractor soon.

The girl I talked to at Montana didn't sound very sure at all so I just wanted to hear from other owners or dealers.

I almost bought used...but decided the 3 year warranty was worth a lot to me so I turned down the other deal.

I have seen others post inquiries about getting updates and/or elctronic versions of service and owners manuals. If they ever became available, I would be very intersted.

As much as I have enjoyed my Montana 4940 tractor, saying the operating manual is a disapointment is an understatement. The Korean to english translation ould be humorous if not so frustrating. I can get the information it is supposed to supply but it takes some reader interpretation...

You would think that with a few days work, someone could translate the translation into an acceptable operators manual. I know, I know, they have more than one manual...baby steps is all that's needed to get there. One manual at a time.

I got the dealer to send the Owner's manual ahead of the tractor. It is a bit tough to read in places...that's for sure. A few mentions of driving over the rice paddy's, and many definately incorrect translations. It's like it was ran through one of the on-line translators instead of actually translated by a human.

Better than nothing I guess, but the really should spend a few dollars on it.
