46 hoe conversion from 4110 to 2520

Well, the other hoe I was looking at on the 4115 was sold but I have found another one which is on a 4110. So now the question is has anyone converted a 46 hoe from a 4110 to a 2520. I am going to look at a 2004 used hoe on saturday, private sale with 10 hours on it. He is willing to take $3500 which seems like a fair price. Is it possible to convert the subframe from the 4110 to a 2520? A new subframe lists on the Deere site for $880.00 which if required makes this deal less attractive. Is this price correct? Anyone just bought a subframe? If I need to buy a new subframe is there any market out there for a used subframe for a 4110? I was hoping I could just adapt the 4110 sub frame for a few additional bucks versus buying a new one. I allready have the power beyond kit installed. Any insight and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving.

I think you are venturing into virgin territory here...But I have a feeling that the frame will be easily adapted.
There is very little difference between the 4110/4115 and the 2320/2520 except the skins.

Do you have a welder and basic fabricating tools?

brent, check out to see how the sub frame on the donor tractor bolts up and take measurements. Then compare these measurements to your tractor and see if they are the same or close. This should give you an idea if the subframe can be swapped.

I would think that with the resulting damage to a tractor if a subframe fails, that if there are any possibilities of your welding not being top notch, you would enlist the help of an experienced welder and fabrication person. I would hate to hear stories of another tractor gone bad due to an improper back hoe mount.

I appreciate all the advice each of you have provided. I do have basic fabrication tools and support from a welding shop. The one question no one really addressed was the asking price. Do you think the price is still good if the subframe won't work and I needed to buy a new one? Thanks, Brent

I can't comment on price either, But I doubt you'd have to but a new subframe. As I said, the 4115 and the 2520 are very close structurally.

I had a 4115 with the 46 hoe before I purchased my 2520. The dealer said it would be no problem adapting the frames. But they were wrong. You'll end up buying a new subframe to fit the hoe to the 2520.

I dont think the subframe for the 2520 is very expensive.

To do it right you will need a new subframe mounting kit since the kit is different for a 4110 and 2520, plus the power beyond kit. i would not advise fabricating a 4110 subframe to fit your machine. first, if you still have warranty on your 2520 you will void it by adapting a subframe. second, you spent enough money for your tractor why waste time rigging up something that is not supposed to fit. get the right subframe. sounds like you will be saving a few bucks over buying new...
