4610 or 4120?

I've been mainly looking at the 4120 and I like what I see...but what about the 4610? Is it basically an equal to the 4120? Is there a big price difference? I was given a quote from 1 dealer for $19,900 for the 4120 with R4 tires and eHydro tranny. Would the 4610 be cheaper and offer the same performance?...or is the 4610 generally a smaller/lighter duty tractor than the 4120?

The 4120 is a 43 HP turbo diesel (JD engine) and the 4610 is a 44 HP Yanmar engine.

Just wondering what the advantages would be if I went with the 4120. If price were no concern at all, I'd be jumping on the 4120 right now. Thanks

Have you found a 4610? Seems like they should be pretty rare...

From the engine rearward - they are exactly the same tractor mechanically, they're also certainly the same size and nearly the exact same weight. The only real difference is the engine, with minor changes to the steering column, bodywork / styling and even more subtle changes to the 'electronics'. The Yanmars are considered bullet proof. The turbo JD is not a new engine (came from JD skid steers) but there does not appear to be much info good or bad about them.

If as Mike mentioned, your dealer actually has a 4610 left over to sell at this point (the big 4000-Tens have been out of production nearly a year) tell him to sharpen his pencil real good. You might just end up with a sweetheart of a deal on a very good tractor.

oh ok...i didn't realize the 4610 was no longer made....since they were on the JD web site. Oh well, I guess it's the 4120 then /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Woohoo! I think the 4120 deal might be on again /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The budget has increased to $23,000 and I think can work out a deal for that, or very close to it (with 400X loader, R4 tires and eHydro).

Man I'll be like a kid in a candy store if I can get my butt in that yellow seat!

Sort of. Got a pretty good price. Waiting on another local dealer to give their price. From the sound of the guy on the phone, sounds like they'll probably match or beat JD Equip's price. We'll see. Should know tomorrow.

Yup, I would not be surprised if they match JD's price. They are probably used to going against them... Personally, I like a good relationship with a local dealer. Even if it costs a little more. Awesome if it doesn't!
