4610 status report

Approaching 20 hours and haven't broken anything, yet. Only 2 problems so far. The fuel gauge seems to be off a little. At 1/4 tank indication, the tank is only half empty, going by the specs. I put in 6 gallons and it fills it to the top. I suppose I need to drain it dry and refill it to be sure exactly how much it really holds. Specs say 12.5 gallons. The other problem is the tilt mechanism for the steering wheel. The left side of the lever doesn't seem to want to go up as far as the right side does. The right side "feels" like its disengaging the tilt mechanism but the left side feels like its hitting something hard and stopping. Still can't find a battery for my digital camera, but I'll have pictures one of these days.

Hi Ken...

Call your dealer on this and ask him about the service bulletin JD issued earlier this year that called for replacement of the tilt steering column's inner housing. The inner housing is defective in some way and should be replaced as it will likely cause your tilt steering to 'jam up' and you won't be able to move it. This happened on my 4710. I contacted my dealer to have this housing replaced. I've not had any problems since.
