I was so lucky to spend last week in Mexico where all I had to be concerned about was if I needed more sunblock or was the beverage full!!!!!!

Now that I am back home I get to deal with the results of mother nature, of course the tractor/blower was sitting out side while the garage was empty (frown)----after shoveling and pulling tractor our of snowbank, (This is the first time I have used this combination by the way---just mounted the blower for the first time this year)----I have the angle kit on the tractor, but the hoses are disconnected so as to allow the direction of the blown snow to be changed, but the blower has nothing to lock it in place to stay 90 degrees to the tractor----I don't recall a pin to drop in the mounting brackets and its so packed up with snow right now I can't see anything. What am I forgeting about this---how do you get the blower to stay 90 degrees to the tractor and not flop whichever direction a small amount of snow pulls it right or left????

On your front mount (the black part) there is about a 5/8" hole that a large pin goes through to keep the blower in one position (straight ahead).

Do not run the blower without this in place!

If you look next to the hydraulic cylinder that controls the lift (up/down) you'll find the hole.

Your local JD dealer should be able to help you out. I would guess you could use a bolt with stop-nut or a correctly sized hitch-pin with clip to make due; you do not want slop in the fit though.

Good luck!

Thank you--found it.

Cast and Blast: Why do you say to ""never run the blower without the pin""? I am wondering if damage can happen or what? I have built my own snowblower, and it mounts to the JD quick-tach that you are talking about, on the front of a 4100. I used to use the stop pin, but couldnt find it this year. Then I found that angling it slightly to the side allowed me to steer that direction MUCH easier.
So, what is the problem with angling the snowblower? Is it that the PTO shaft will come apart or something?

I did notice too that turning while blowing is "nearly" impossible---all I can think of is stressin the u-joint.

I also noticed that with a gear drive 4100 not shearing a pin while letting out the clutch is kind of a trick--I need to check to see what size JD reccommends for a shear pin (1/4 inch is slightly smaller than the hole and shears --REALLY-- easy)

Jim -

That's my understanding; it's a PTO concern from the angle. Slight angle might not be an issue.

Isn't the PTO running mighty close to the lift cylinder to be angling to the right at all? I'm working off memory here, but it seems that it would hit.

As far as the shaft being close to the cylinder, or other stuff, I will take a look tonight, with the PTO turned off of course. Maybe a pic or two is in order.

I have been learning how to run the JD 47" Snowthrower with gear drive too (4110)...
I was shearing pins like mad at first.
What I am doing now is keeping the RPM's lower - about 1400, letting out the clutch, and then using the pedal-throttle to bring up the RPM's...
Haven't snapped one since doing it this way !
