47" snowblower question

I rebuilt my 47" snowblower and in hind sight I think that I may have done a dumb thing. The roller bearings at the ends of the auger shaft and sprocket shaft came dry of any lubricant. I assembled them dry buy now I'm thinking that I should have tried to pack them with grease. Does anyone know if these are greased from the factory or are they assembled dry?

Mike according to the parts notes, they are sealed bearings,
so i think you are ok...

I also posted this question at mytractorforum.com and got the same reply from a member there. I have been a mechanic all of my life but could not remember what those bearings looked like if my life depended on it. I'd like to think that I did the right thing out of instinct but you loose confidence when you can't remember things so well anymore.

What got me thinking about this is that the blower has a low pitch droning sort of sound when under a load. It's doing a lot of work and has to make some sound so I suppose that it's normal. If it were a new machine I wouldn't be concerned at all but being that I replaced all of the bearings I am a little on my guard. Do you run one of these and does this seem normal to you?

sometimes you can get some noise coming from the long pto shaft going
under the tractor to your blower from the mid pto. if they get a slight bend
they can wobble and cause noise. don't forget there's a bearing at the front
of that shaft also.
another lube point is the chain, needs lots of lube, it runs in an unfriendly environment,
with all the water/salt.

Yep,,, I give mine about half a squirt of oil every time I use it.

You might want to try some chain lube on the chain. It stays on the chain better and doesn't collect dirt
