Howdy from the bumpy country - I'm new to this forum. However, having beaten myself stupid between buying Orange and Green a 4700 Greenie w/460 FEL (w/High Volume Bucket, 48 Back hoe, MX6 Rotary Cutter, 7'rear blade and "Curtis" canopy is a hick-up away from taking up residence at my place.
Unit will be used for pushing snow (reside @ 8000' in Col.), scrapping out the horsey doo-doo, and murdering willows/sage on 180 acres up by Steamboat Springs.
My first question is R1 or R4 tires? I'm seeing discusions both ways. As snow/ ice removal is a primary concern and no lawn issue is involved thought that the R1's were the answer until I observed comments that the R4's were stronger due to a higher cord/ply count!? I'm also being told that telescopic draft links are not available for the 4700 unit and I would have to go up to a 5000 series (5310 was my second choice --$$$$ -- GAG!) to get them - any aftermarket units available?
I also wanted an enclosed cab but the pictures of the Curtis unit (that Dealer showed me) leaves a lot to be desired esthetically - that puppy ain't real cute like the factory unit on the 5310 or bigger units.
Also, I am planning on a Hydostatic trans (for the wife of course - Ok for me to - doing the loader thing) unless someone can convince me otherwise.
Looks like a great forumn and bunch of people on this site and I'm looking forward to recieving your input before I lay down the Green for the Green.
