4700HST trans filter # ????

Help! – What is the correct part # for trans/hydraulic filter for a 4700HST—my manual shows part # AM102723 – however, the JD web site shows this # and also #LVA10419 --- there was a note on the JD web site about a year ago that the second part number (LVA10419) was an update due to a need for higher capacity – I cannot find this posting again – but both #’s are still shown – I have emailed the JD question site with no response grrrrrrrrrrr! Local dealer (parts dude) claims that when they service a tractor they simply reinstall what ever the tractor came in with and that the two filters are not interchangeable. Would appreciate feed back from the land of knowledge on this simple little part thingie.

I don't think that I want that shop working on anything of mine.

Be aware that the price of the LV filter is pretty salty. You can cross reference it to a Wix and probably save some money.

I believe that the 4700 was introduced a year or so after the other tractors in the four thousand series - either in 1999 or 2000. It may not yet have been in production when this particular service bulletin was published. Hopefully Deere will follow up with you and shed some light on the matter.

gvw - Even if your 4700 isn't included in that S.B., I'd go with the high flow filter anyway.

BTW - WIX #is 51456 (NAPA #1456) for the LVA10419; price from the local NAPA guy is $39.34!! Wow!! Wonder what JD wants for theirs?

I purchased a LVA10419 filter in Aug 03 for my JD4700. Parts dept didn't ask which filter, they just brought out this one.
Cost: $21.75 over the counter.
I'm due for a change; will be interesting to see what the filter and the LV Hygard oil sets me back.

Stick with the replacement. My information that I got from the Dealer when I bought my second replacement filter (200 hours now) was that the 4500-4600-4700 were supposed to use the new, larger filter replacement.

Just make sure that when you change the filter and fluid that you have a couple of VERY large pails. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Finally received an email back from the supposed knowledgeable JD parts people - guess what their answer was - "measure the length of the one on the tractor" -- I cannot believe that this actually came from them but it did - I sent email back regarding update bulletin on their own web - answer back was "that is for the 4200 4300 and 4600" --- I give up.

On my 4700 HST I could not read the filter numbers, they'd been painted over. The LVA filter is almost an inch longer. Mine uses the LVA filter.
