4710 Idled, died and won't restart.

Tractor has been sitting for a month or so and had a flat on the front. Went down today to do a few thing and the tractor cranked right up as usual. Used the bucket to lift the front tires off the ground. Walked back to the truck to get my conpressor and the tractor died. Ran fine for the minute or so that it ran and didn't stumble when it died. Just died. Now it spins over fine but that's it.

I’d start with the fuel - check that the filter/bowl is clean and not clogged. Make sure there’s fuel in the tank.

You didn’t by chance turn off (close) the fuel line back when the tire was flat, and now forget to re-open the valve?

The valve is open but haven't checked the filter. Will do that when I get back.

also check for water in the filter. I have had issues with that myself.

Sounds like the fuel shut off solenoid wire came loose

Will when solved. Changed fuel filter but doesn't crank.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check this when I get back to the property but I think it was clicking.

Went back to the property to tinker with the tractor - Results - Still dead. Couldn't get my fat fingers in there to separate the fuel solenoid plug for testing so I pulled the air filter off and hit it with a small amount of ether to see if it would fire. No combustion noted. Just a change in pitch as it pushed the ether through but no firing.

Tried swapping the K1 and K3 relays - nothing
Jumped the seat switch - nothing

Went back today and got the fuel cutoff solenoid unplugged. The resistance met specs. Checked the power side and could not get the 3 second power reading (think it was white wire). Got the constant-on power (red wire).

When I plug it in the fuel solenoid clicks when I turn the key on.

Ideas?

FWIW - ended up pumping out the fuel tank and and the fuel was cloudy. Ran a gallon of fresh fuel through the tank to help clean it out and changed the fuel filter again and the tractor cranked.

Not sure if it was sabotage or not. Time will tell.
