Has anyone looked into the idea of putting the new air ride type seats that the 4x20's have on a 4710? I havent got the chance to see the new seats, but they are supposedly much better than the 4710s seat like I have. Are the air ride seats an option on the nex 4x20's?

According to the numbers on JDParts - the 4000 Twentys use exactly the same seats and suspensions as the later mid-and-large frame 4000 Tens.

Part numbers - seat LVA12909, suspension LVA12326.

my dealer mentioned that the 4x20s can come with an optional air ride seat....im curious if there is something better for my tractor.

That would be interesting to see - so far there's no mention on the Deere site that I could find, just the armrest option. Could it be the suspension off of the special-edition X-series? I'd believe that more than say the air seat off of the 5000 Twentys.

Before you spend hundreds on a new seat, let me tell you what I did that made a world of difference. I'd love to take credit for this but it was an idea I got from someone here on the Mahindra forum.

For well under a buck and a half at Wal-Mart I bought a swimming pool toy called a pool snake or something like that which was closed cell polymer about six feet long. I cut some 16"-18" lengths and stuffed them under my seat with the seat pulled all the way up. Viola' No more bottoming out when I hit those filling-jarring ruts in the back pastures. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to admit I was skeptical when I first read about the idea but now that I've tried it I have to rank it as the absolute best money I've EVER spent on my tractor. Heck, I was even able to get it in Deere yellow. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The 4020 series seats are pretty much identical to the TENS. I have driven both and there is no difference in seat quality. They use the same yellow seat and suspension.

Wow! I have the new style TEN seat and don't have ANY issues like that! The seat has three adjustments and does a great job. Trust me that it isn't my pasture that takes the credit...

Gary,
I just wanted to say thanks for your post. I know you said you got it from a different forum, but this is the one I read. Picked up one of the pool floats from Wal-Mart and cut some sections to fit under the seat on my 4400. Incredible difference!!!! I spent several hours on the tractor today, and it was the least tiring time I've spent in the seat. The biggest difference for me (I'm 6'6" tall) was that my legs weren't cramped up all the time as the seat never compressed and allowed me to keep my legs stretched out. Again, thanks for the post and if anyone has any doubts, this idea REALLY WORKS.
