On the 4720 HST there is a feature that tells the tractor how far to roll when getting off the throttle. 1 will just about skid the tires if back off too fast and 10 will be like a 'normal' tractor and roll with whatever momentum the tractor has. Question is: What is the mechanism that slows the tractor down? Engine? Brakes? Just curious really. I use a 3 and is great for fluffing hay and snow rearranging. I am guessing when in the field this summer a 10 could be used. Is having the tractor thinking about stopping so much going to give me a headache later in terms of wear and tear?

I love the LoadMatch switch for the motor! No more bogging, and can just throttle up as much as necessary so guess it would be more efficient as well.

I believe it is the hydrostatic swash plate being electronically slowed down. I set mine once when it was new, then have never adjusted it again. They do work great, don't they? Love that Loadmatch too...

Did not recognize all of the words in your post but get the gist that it is a convenience feature and not a wear and tear issue. Probably when get in the field this summer may not want the tractor to do all the stopping for me when there is a load on the back.

Have not been here lately since was sick for a couple days.

So how do you make that adjustment...haven't had time to read my manual yet.

CWP37, it's not something you can understand without reading the manual.
