4720 No Heat

Well guys my 4720 is not giving me any heat. Still have my coolant leak, but don't want to pull it apart in the middle of snow season so I'm just living with that and keeping proper level in tank. But it is just blowing cold air while engine temp is in proper range so i'm guessing t-stat is shot.

Anyone have any experience changing one in a 4024T? (Haven't even looked at engine to see how tough it is to get at)

IMHO if after engine has been operated a few minutes & gauge temp is in correct operating range then thermostat is functioning as designed.

My guess is coolant control valve in cab isn't allowing coolant to flow through or cooling system has an air pocket. Have you checked for presence of a manual liquid shut-off valve that might be closed?

not familiar with that particular tractor but If you are low on coolant in the Radiator not in the overflow tank you may have air in the system and If your heater core is in the roof like on my tractor the air bubble will rise to the highest point and you get no hot coolant in the heater core.

Thx for responses. As it turns out just got done moving 5" of snow and it was blowing warm air. Now in the last month I've had the grapple on it so I'm bucking logs with it and it has had a lot of on/off time so you both mentioned the air pocket issue and that may have been it.
