Just rebuilt the distributor. New coil, new plugs. Issue was tractor wouldn't start. Seems plugs ended up being the issue. Now it runs well until hot then acts like its starving for fuel and sputters/dies. Then will not restart/run unless at full choke. I drained the tank and filled with fresh fuel. Cleaned the filter on the carb input side of the fuel line. Fuel bowl is full. Screens in the valve were changed last year.

I had it out plowing a few weeks ago when it started acting up. Got it to the barn and took vid until it died. See youtube link below. Forward to about the 2min mark and you can hear her start to run rough and die.

If you let the engine completely cool down, will it start and run properly until it gets hot again?

Pull a plug wire when it starts to act up and see if the spark is blue or yellow. When you put the new coil on did you put the resistor back in line? A 48 8N has the front mount distributor and it must have the resistor to keep from cooking the coil. Acting up when hot sounds like coil.

Mine never had a resistor on it…….

You don't have the factory ballast resistor attached to the back side of your dash panel?
Possibly. The only ones I’ve seen on the 8ns are mounted close to the coil.

It has to be fuel/carb related. It’s been sitting for a week and will fire up but only run at full choke. If I slowly close the choke it acts like it’s kissing and dies

Your '48 8N came from the factory with a ballast resistor on the back of the dash panel like in the photo. It allows full current at startup and as it gets warm it increases the resistance to extend the life of your coil. The resistors you are talking about are probably little white rectangles added to the coil circuit and they are added when you convert to 12v but retain the 6v coil to prevent frying the coil.
Sounds like it might be time to take the carb off and give it a good cleaning. Has it been rebuilt in a while?
