48\" or 60\" box blade for 2015hst

I'm picking up a 2015hst this week and part of the deal is a 60" box blade, will this blade be too big for this tractor?
We are building a new home and I'll be using it to landscape \ level the property and maintain a 600' gravel drive.

Thanks!
Steve

Steve, a 60" box blade is WAY to big for a 2015.
Im surprised your dealer will sell you a package like that.
I would put a 48" box blade behind it, then that mahindra will work like a tiger. You will have more control of what you drag & level behind you and you wont over work or brake the hitch.

Ernie is right on. I have a 7205 Cub which is the 2015 and a 5' blade basically makes a nice anchor!

If the R4 tires are spun out to the wide position, the 2015 is about 52" wide. Some brands carry a 54" box scraper, which makes a nice compromise. Generally we suggest a 48" on the 2015, but 54" is OK in most applications.

Steve, I use a Rhino 48" box blade behind my 2015 and it seems to be the perfect size. When trolling for rocks with the scarifiers all the way down, there are times when she's really working. I would think a bigger blade would be too much for the tractor.

Go with the 48" , 60 is too big.

Re: 48\" or 60\" box blade for 2015hst

hope this can help, but sure i am to late, when i was hooking up my bb today, i noticed a tag on it, and said box blade ft to horse power chart, 1' per 5 horse power.and from reading all of the repleys, that sounds about right, so the 48" would be right for your tractor.

While the subject is being discussed I might as well get your comments for my 2615HST.
If 5 HP / foot is the rule of thumb then I guess a 60" BB is right for me. In general do you want the BB just wider than the wheels?
I have a hard pack dirt driveway (~500ft) that I want to level off this spring. It has dips and ridges in the middle on the sides etc., I assume a BB is the tool to use?

Winkicker, you don't want to be grading a road flat unless you want all of the water to run off in the same direction. In other words, the road may be flat as long as it slopes enough for the water to run off in either direction. Otherwise, roads need to be crowned in the middle. A rule of thumb for gravel roads is 1/2 to 3/4 inches of pitch per foot of width. The steeper the road the more pitch is desired. I've been a landscaper for almost thirty years, and I think the best use for a box blade is for leveling. You can buy a 7' angle blade for a lost less money than a box blade. Also, if you have a loader on your tractor you can level quite well with it once you get the hang of it.

All the best to you. Bob
