The first use is the most obvious. It's a regular bucket. You also have the grabbing/pulling action of the opening for picking up brush, branches, etc. With the opening opened to it's widest point you can use it like a plow blade (like an old 2-way snow blade). There are some disadvantage to having one, also. While it will do four things, it will do none of them as well as the individual attachment designed solely for that purpose would. Also, they tend to weigh 100-200 lbs more than a regular bucket of the same strength and size so your load carrying capacity is going to be reduced by that much. On a compact tractor that can become a sizeable percentage. Lastly, beyond the fact they aren't cheap, you generally need additional hydraulics to operate them.
