4WD benefits seen first-hand

I suppose that I'm just lucky enough to be on relatively flat land with good soil. Never found 4WD to be necessary. For those who need it, I guess it's good that it is so common these days. Makes more money for the tractor makers too. That's a win/win.

On our flat land farm all of our tractors are 2WD as is the backhoe while on our hill farms all are 4WD. I had my old Jubilee up here for a few years and it was pretty darned scary. After one too many out of control trips down through the woods, it went home to the flatlands where it will live out its days.

That's another interesting point, and one I'd forgotten about until you mentioned it. 4wd automatically gives you 4 wheel braking as well, which is a VERY GOOD THING traveling downhill with a full bucket of whatever.

Boy that's the truth. Like the cats getting stuck in a tree, coming down is almost always harder than going up.
