Folks,
I was doing some loader work this evening on my TC-40D with 92 hours on the meter. I never heard any sound or anything happen but when I tried to back up the hill I Noticed that the rear wheels were spinning and front just laying there (I have supersteer). /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Lar was it locked in 4WD or were you letting SensiTrak put the tractor in 4WD automatically? Have you checked the fluid level in the SensiTrak or the cable to the unit? Maybe you caught it on something? Thats where I would start.

Didn't someone shear a pin in the front drive-shaft on a TC 35 or 40 a while back?

Larry, I think PineRidge has given you some pretty good advice. Here is what the Repair Manual troubleshooting section says:

Will not stay engaged in full-time mode.
1. Control lever out of adjustment
2. Sensitrack cable out of adjustment
3. Sensitrack cable stretched

Will not operate in Auto-mode.
1. Sensitrack cable out of adjustment
2. Sensitrack cable stretched
3. Sensitrack clutch is worn

If the cable or full-time lever is out of adjustment, the repair action is to adjust.

If the cable is stretched, the repair is to replace the cable.

If the clutch is worn, the repair says rebuild or replace Sensitrack clutch.

That's about all the help I can offer on this, Larry. I don't have supersteer, so this is not something with which I've had any actual experience. I do think that since you didn't hear any unusual noise that most likely nothing mechanical has broken.

Thanks for your thoughts. I was pretty bummed last night, that is until this morning when I pulled out the old operators manual. On superstars there is a full-time 2 wheel drive lever behind the seat on the left. Exactly under a 20 pound bag of seeds was using. Feel kind of stupid, but My grass seed bag just put my machine in 2 WD. All's well now. I'll be more careful putting anything behind my seat.

Oh yeah...I went back to the Repair Manual and read the fine print. It said, "Remove 20lb bag of seed off 2WD lever if all else fails." /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good for you, Larry. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif That's the kind of problem we all like to have. ...and the older I get I have more of those problems happening to me. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I had the same problem when I first had my TC40D/SS. The decals on the tractor don't really tell you what that lever is for behind the seat, you only find that information in the owner's manual.
