The 4WD will not engage on my L4310. I recently had work done on a leaking hydraulic tube from the filter to the rear housing, along with new filter and
fluid. A few days later the problem arose. Could it be related? Is this a quick, inexpensive fix? The tractor is in excellent shape otherwise, always properly maintained. 1400 hours - 30-40% of which are operated in 4WD. Any ideas?

Sure has been a lot of comments on problems with Kubota 4Wd. the past couple of months. has there been a change in design?
Broken housings, pinion shafts, gears, oil leaks.

Have you try letting the tractor roll w/clutch in or move head extra inch or so,also turn your front wheels hard left/right etc. than engage.

thanks for the replies. I should have been a little more specific on what 'won't engage' means. The lever moves readily into the 4WD position, but the front wheels aren't pulling. In the past, it did require pushing the clutch in a couple of times with the wheels slighly turned, and the lever
had a distinct 'click' as it went into 4WD. Now the lever goes in and out of
4WD, no problem there, but no front pull.

On my L4330, the 4wd linkage is in the same general vicinity of the HST filter lines below the floor pan, so it may be very possible that a linkage or crank was disturbed enough by the line work that its travel or adjustment was affected just enough so that it no longer engages. Can you have someone operate the 4wd lever while you watch from below (engine off and brakes on!)?

I'll second this suggestion. I went through a similar problem with my B20. On my tractor there is a small linkage that runs between the 4wd selector lever and the lever on the transmission that actually engages 4wd. That linkage was bent. It felt like I was engaging 4wd but the intermediate linkage was actaully just rotating over center and not engaging 4wd at all. In my case I was stuck with 4wd engaged --- made sense to me once I watched it.
